Sanibel Captiva Community Bank is collecting new toys, clothing and essential household items throughout June to benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida. Requested items include new clothing with tags for boys, girls and toddlers; new sneakers in sizes 2 through 13; baby formula, cereal and food; household necessities such as dish soap, laundry soap, dryer sheets, washcloths and kitchen items; art supplies including sketchbooks, journals and paints; and hair accessories such as scrunchies, combs and brushes. Night closure announced for Big Carlos Pass Bridge next week

The Lee County Department of Transportation asks motorists in the vicinity of the Big Carlos Pass Bridge to be aware of an upcoming temporary nighttime closure of Big Carlos Pass Bridge on Wednesday night. Traffic will be shut down in both directions between 8 and 10 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, so crews can conduct final work needed before project completion. The contractor anticipates the closure will last about one hour. Motorists should anticipate delays and are encouraged to seek alternative routes and avoid the area when possible.
