Applications open for vacant seat on LPA

The appointment by the Town of Fort Myers Beach Council of former Local Planning Agency (LPA) member John McLean to the Fort Myers Beach Council has left a vacancy on the LPA. The town announced that the deadline to apply for the LPA seat is March 16. The link to the application can be found on the town's website under its advisory boards page at: https://www.fortmyersbeachfl.gov/DocumentCenter/View/25076/Advisory-Committee-Application-Form. Applicants for the LPA seat must be residents of the Town of Fort Myers Beach. Lee County awards $258 million contract for new Fort Myers Beach wastewater treatment facility

The Lee County Board of County Commissioners voted Tuesday to award a $258.5 million contract to Poole & Kent Company of Florida for a reconstruction of the Fort Myers Beach Water Reclamation Facility. The contract for the new wastewater treatment center off island on Pine Ridge Road, will cover the demolition, reconstruction, and upgrades to improve capacity, efficiency, and resiliency of the facility, the county announced.
