Town of Fort Myers Beach to receive $6 million from FEMA to elevate 25 homes

FEMA is releasing $6 million to the Town of Fort Myers Beach for 25 homes to be raised at a minimum of two feet above base flood elevation. "This grant will fund the provision of flood protection to 25 single-family residences located in Fort Myers Beach," the award letter from FEMA stated. The Town of Fort Myers Beach announced the funding on Wednesday following a letter from the office of Senator Ashley Moody regarding the award. In the announcement, the town issued a statement that said "FEMA Hazard Mitigation funding has been released to support the elevation of 25 single-family homes on Fort Myers Beach that are located in flood-prone areas."
