Missing Cape Coral teen located

A Cape Coral teenager who was reported missing Monday, one day after she was last seen heading to Fort Myers Beach, has returned home. Corey Hernandez, the father of the Cape Coral high school student who reported her missing on Monday said early Wednesday that she has returned home. Hernandez said the child was located “through the power of the community social media. Finally got to meet up with a family friend and they brought her home.” The Cape Coral student is “safe and OK,” he said. Firefighters conducting controlled burns on Pearl Street

Firefighters with the Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District are conducting controlled burns on a building slated for demolition on Pearl Street. The controlled burns will last to noon today and will resume on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon and on Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon. Fort Myers Beach Fire Chief Scott Wirth said the fire department reached out to the property owners upon learning the building would be demolished The controlled burns will give the department's firefighters valuable training.
