Fort Myers Beach resident says Seagate review process shows lack of respect by Council for residents
To Town councilors and Andy;
I have been following town council and advisory meetings via Zoom for over two years.
I have sent letters.
I have had actual conversations with many of you, some via text, some live.
The thing that disappoints and saddens me the most is the lack of acknowledgment, and the lack of respect shown to me and other islanders.
You all will vote for SeaGate. You are in a hurry to “get the island back.”
It saddens me to not see any evidence of this development’s merit.
It saddens me that little attention is paid to our underlying island infrastructure. I hear of boil water notices. I see Leonardo Arms as though it is almost ready to tumble into the Gulf. I hear of under-inspected homes taking two lives.
I hear of FPL poles starting on fire.
I hear of streets continuing to flood, possibly due to the fact that the storm water drainage project was never correctly executed.
The many contractors working on the island hit gas lines, water lines and electrical lines.
The rush to push through SeaGate is unsafe.
I look to Tom Torgerson and all the public hearings we had as an island. I look at Tom’s patience and work with all islanders.
Where did the respect between islanders, town councilors, and town manager go?
I would surmise that it blew away with Ian.
I ask you to think twice about your island constituents that voted for you.
Many islanders and myself are disappointed in all of you as our elected officials.
May you take full responsibility for our island’s health and needs.
Mark me disappointed.
