Concerned about boat speeding and manatee deaths

I just got done reading the disturbing article in the Jan. 22 edition regarding Lee County leading the state in manatee deaths in 2019. I am a part-time resident on the south-end of the Island near Santini Plaza/ Fish Tale Marina. This visit I noticed an increased number of boats traveling fast in the no-wake zone just south of the marina. My boating neighbor told me that this area was eliminated as being no-wake. Why? Consideration needs to be given on how that impacts our environment and the aquatic animals that live beneath the water’s surface. Sacrificing a few minutes of time to save lives seems very worthwhile to me.
