Put the community first; please withdraw lawsuit

To the editor:

I sent a personalized version of this plea directly to Ms. Patton via USPS

I am following the example of my wise friends and fellow island residents by sending an open request: Chris Patton, reconsider and withdraw the lawsuits filed against the town of Fort Myers Beach concerning the TPI Margaritaville project. Suits described in the Aug. 9 issue of the Observer. “Fort Myers Beach resident files case against town over Margaritaville”

Ms. Patton, asking why you feel it is reasonable to request your fellow citizens to pay your attorney fees, with our tax dollars?

You are choosing to challenge a project that the majority of islanders support! The TPI team spent over three years developing a proposal that fits FMB. To put your minority view ahead of what is a fine plan that will provide Estero Island so many benefits including rejuvenation and beautification of a blighted area of dilapidated building. Plus Margaritaville will bring jobs along with visitors- the life blood of the island – residents and businesses.

I implore you to think of what will be best for the entire island and your fellow island residents.

Please, withdraw your lawsuits!
