Promises made and kept
To the editor:
Four months ago, our new Chamber President Bud Nocera made a promise to create a “one of a kind” Chamber website that would be about Fort Myers Beach first and foremost as well as our surrounding areas. This website would not be about the Chamber but about promoting our Chamber members in an innovative way. I am excited to announce the launch of Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce’s new innovative and groundbreaking website “The Catch.”
Additionally, not only has our new president kept the promise of an outstanding website, he has also kept his promise to bring visitor information to both ends of our beach. I am proud to announce that our Chamber has purchased our first of two 16-foot mobile Airstream trailers called “Bambis” and is now waiting the process of being transformed into our first of two welcome centers! We are over the first hurdle, but we still need to raise money for the transformation into a Welcome Center.
That brings us to asking the Beach community to dine out for Bambi’s sake.
Beach restaurants are stepping up to help the Greater Fort Myers Beach Area Chamber of Commerce raise funds for tourist information centers. Shoals Restaurant and Wine Bar and the Sandy Butler Market held the first Bambi fundraiser, aptly named “Vote for Bambi,” on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Ten percent of food and beverage sales between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. went towards the project of converting these trailers into mobile visitor information centers. These mobile chambers will enable the chamber to assist visitors in discovering our local restaurants, attractions, and accommodations.
“Bambi” is the name of a 16-foot-long classic Airstream travel trailer. The Bambi Trailers will be painted with scenes of Fort Myers Beach to make them fun and attract attention.
Parrot Key Caribbean Grill will host the second “Bambi Night” this Tuesday, Nov. 13. Ten percent of the food and beverage sales will be donated to the cause.
Members of the community are invited to come out that night in support of program.
Any local member restaurants that would like to participate, please contact Jane Ross at 454-7500.
You can also support the Buy a Bambi campaign by making an online donation at buyabambi.com/.
If you or anyone you know would like to become a member of The Greater Fort Myers Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and take part in these exciting changes please contact me at 454-7500 (ext 206) or email Cindi@FMBchamber.com.
Feel free to pass this information along to everyone who can benefit from the exciting changes!
