Representatives of the DiamondHead Beach Resort will go in front of the Town of Fort Myers Beach Council on Monday with scaled-back plans for their proposal to add 55 rooms. General Manager Neil Hopgood said the new plans eliminate the tower that was proposed, and instead add on the rooms into the east and west sides of the existing building. Neighbors had expressed opposition to the proposed tower at a Local Planning Agency meeting where the board voted against the project.

In a statement, Hopgood said “In response to the thoughtful feedback received from the LPA, Timeshare Owners, and members of the surrounding community, we have taken a fresh look at our proposed plans and reconfigured the design to address the concerns that were raised.

As part of this revised design, the previously proposed beachfront units on the east side of the property have been relocated to the west side. This adjustment allows us to thoughtfully respond to the feedback received while continuing to balance the needs and interests of our owners, guests, and the surrounding community.

We believe this updated plan represents a meaningful step forward-addressing the concerns that have been raised while allowing DiamondHead to continue investing in and enhancing the property, introducing additional amenities, and maintaining our ability to remain competitive in the market.

We sincerely appreciate the time, input, and consideration provided throughout this process. We believe the revised design creates a stronger path forward for DiamondHead, our owners and guests, and the community, while allowing us to continue investing in the long-term future of the property.”
