A proposed expansion for the DiamondHead Beach Resort on Fort Myers Beach, were rejected by the Fort Myers Beach Local Planning Agency on Tuesday. A proposed rendering shown would add two buildings and 57 rooms.

The Town of Fort Myers Beach Local Planning Agency voted unanimously against recommending approval for the DiamondHead Beach Resort’s proposal to add two buildings and 57 rooms to their property on Estero Boulevard. There are currently 121 units at the resort.

The Town of Fort Myers Beach Council could still act to approve the plans, and the beachfront resort’s owners could still act to modify their proposal. The plans require eight deviations from town code, including height. With additions, each building would be 100 feet or more.
