Crescent Beach Family Park reopened on Fort Myers Beach this week, approximately six months after construction started.
The $1.3 million Lee County project involves the planting of a new grassy area in the middle along with shade trees and shade structures.
The project got off to a rocky start when the contractor took down a number of cabbage palm trees, which had long stood in the front of the property.
According to county officials, the new park has more native trees now, along with plantings that will ultimately deliver even more trees to the park.
The park, located between the Margaritaville Beach Resort and Times Square, was formerly a large sand box where beach volleyball, and games of used to regularly took place before Hurricane Ian.
