Estero Island Historic Society to host presentation on local author’s memoir

The Estero Island Estero Island Historic Society is putting together a free public presentation on a book by a local author on Fort Myers Beach life in the 1950’s 1960’s.
The presentation, titled “Finding Huck: Lee Melsek’s memoir of Fort Myers Beach in the 1950s,” will take place on Monday, Jan. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Fort Myers Beach Public Library, 3rd floor Community Room. All are welcome.
Melees is a retired Fort Myers News-Press investigative reporter, and past President of the Estero Island Historic Society. Melsek will recount tales of Fort Myers Beach from the 1950s through 1960s, when he grew up on Fort Myers Beach, as recounted in his 2025 published book: Finding Huck: Adventures Down Yonder.
