State Days are returning to Salty Sam’s Waterfront Adventures and the Original Shrimp Dock Bar & Grill beginning Jan. 15 with Iowa Day.

The weekly events will pay tribute to the delicacies of states like Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio and New York with special foods in their honor.

The Original Shrimp Dock Bar & Grill will host the first of the events from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. Each of the “State Days” will feature music, games, specialty drinks and a special menu.

Iowa Day will have dishes such as the Original Maid-Rite Sandwich, the Cowboy Burger, Fried Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches and Gas Station Taco Pie Pizza, plus drink specials like the John Wayne, Hawkeye Punch and the Iowa Peach.

“State Days are an original event that we created for folks from up north to celebrate their hometown pride,” said Salty Sam’s owner Matt Hanson. “We have many snowbirds that spend months at a time in Southwest Florida, and this is a way for them to get a taste of their home without leaving paradise.”

Visitors to Iowa Day are encouraged to wear their favorite team colors.

Director of Marketing David Kastan said the next State Days event will be Indiana Day on Jan. 22. The biggest celebration will be for Wisconsin Day on Feb. 26 due in part to the town’s large Wisconsin contingent as well as for being the hometown of Salty Sam’s owners.

If you arrive for Canada Day on Feb. 12 one of the highlights will be the availability of Labatt Blue. Ohio Day on Feb. 19 will feature Cincinnati Chili while the restaurant will celebrate Illinois Day on March 18 with Chicago style pizza on the menu.

Pennsylvania Day is Jan. 29, New York Day will be Feb. 5, Minnesota Day is Mar. 4 and Michigan Day is Mar. 11.

The festivities will conclude March 25 with New England Day, where extra seafood items will be available.
