Sand artist drawings out of this world
If you have been hitting the beach the past few weeks you may noticed what may be considered elaborate crop circles or perhaps you thought they were treasure maps or signs from outer space. Fear not. Those rake marks are from the artist John Boyd who has been working on local beaches lately.
Boyd said he has been in talks with Fort Myers Beach businesses about doing work. He is hoping to work on a Guiness Book of World Records project, he said.
“Fort Myers Beach is a very special place to me because I would spend much time every year as a child. People are friendly and generally curious about my art. I’m thankful to be the first to bring this art to a beach so close to my heart. My art is ‘Simplicity with Elegance’ giving me a platform to talk to so many, who see them, globally, without speaking directly to them,” Boyd said.
Boyd said he is a retired auto industry worker. When he told his mother in Montana that he makes sand art with a rake, she thought he had lost his mind. He said his friends think the same thing.
Boyd said he has plans to show off his works at area art galleries.
