FMBFD to celebrate anniversary
Join the Fort Myers Beach Fire Department for their 70th anniversary celebration this weekend at Fire Station 33.
“It’s going to be a quick celebration of service. This year is the fire district’s 70th anniversary of serving Fort Myers Beach,” Executive Assistant Fire Chief of Life Safety/Support Ron Martin said.
The celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 30, at Fire Station 33, 121 Lenell Road.
The celebration will include light refreshments – a cake, as well as some free giveaways and literature from the life safety division.
“We are going to have a little acknowledgement of Chief Love being Lee County Fire Chief of the Year,” Martin said. “Chief Love is a very modest guy.”
The open house, he said is a great opportunity for the community to come to the fire station and tour their apparatus.
With the celebration being held at Station 33, it will also give the community an opportunity to see the Sept. 11 Memorial.
