Rude Boy Boys are Bay Oaks League Champs

After cruising though the 10-week regular season with a 9-1 record, the Rude Boy Boys captured the four-team playoff to win the Spring Men’s Basketball League Championships at Bay Oaks Monday night.
The RBB became champions by defeating Urine Trouble 79-52. The four-team playoffs began on Monday night with two semifinal games followed by the winners meeting in a championship game.
Urine Trouble played a close semifinal matchup against Bonita Bill’s winning in the last minute of the game with a score of 61-57 allowing Urine Trouble the chance to play in the championship game. Louis Monaco Jr. (Urine Trouble) led all scorers with 27 points and 11 rebounds.
In the other semifinal matchup, Rude Boy Boys defeated the Free Agents by a score of 62-47. Mehmet Cingoz led the way for RBB scoring 20 points while Scott VanSelow contributed 13 rebounds.
Rude Boy Boys and Urine Trouble faced off in the championship game and, although the Rude Boy Boys were the favorite to win, their only loss came at the hands of Urine Trouble. RBB started out with a bang by scoring the first eight points of the contest and never looked back, cruising to a 10 point lead at the half.
Urine Trouble lost the league’s leading scorer (Monaco) at the beginning of the second half due to a calf injury. The loss seemed to have little effect on the game as RBB captain Justin Buckley played tough defense on the scoring champ and allowed Monaco to only score three points. The Rude Boy Boys earned their first Bay Oaks Championship. Cingoz led all scorers with 24 points and VanSelow contributed 21 points to the effort. They won’t have long to wait to defend their championship as the eight-eam summer league begins June 20.
