Sunset cruise event to honor and support wounded local hero
On Friday, Oct. 15, the beautiful 75ft. Ft. Myers Princess will be heading into
the Gulf for an unforgettable sunset cruise in honor of a true hometown hero, PFC Corey Kent.
Corey, a 2006 Mariner High School honors graduate, was critically injured on July
12 of this year while serving his country in Afghanistan. Ft. Myers Princess Captain Gene Becker was quick to reach out to offer his ship and services to show his appreciation and support to our local hero by sponsoring this wonderful event.
“There couldn’t be a better cause to support than this one; we just want to help however we can,” Captain Becker stated.
Tickets are $50 per person, with a maximum of 100 available seats. The price includes hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and two drink tickets (beer and wine). Live entertainment by the legendary local performer Bob Stout, and a cash bar will be provided. Raffles for amazing prizes donated by local and national businesses will be conducted throughout the cruise. The raffle tickets will be sold 3 for $5.00, or 8 for $10.00, and will be for prizes valued at up to $350. All proceeds go to the PFC Corey Kent Family Assistance Fund, to help Corey and his family as he undergoes an extensive recuperation and rehabilitation period.
The ship boards at 6 p.m., sets sail by 6:30, and returns back to Fort Myers Beach by 9.
