The Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce will hold its 15th annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 3, at Bay Oaks Recreational Campus/Beach Elementary School grounds on Fort Myers Beach. The rain-or-shine event will begin at 9:30 a.m. for children up to 12 years of age.

This fun community event is free to all residents and visitors of the Beach. Kids who register between 8:15 and 9:15 a.m. will receive a free gift. Age groupings will include infant to age 2; age 3-4; age 5-8; and age 9-12. Special needs children will join the youngest age group.

“This a special event for the community which the Chamber of Commerce, now in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce Foundation, is proud to do,” said Beach Chamber President John Albion. “Our business members are certainly supportive of building a community in good times as well as difficult times. This is just another way for us to contribute to the community.”

The event is made possible by the main sponsorship of the Beach Chamber, Beach Chamber Foundation, FMB Fire Department and Red Coconut RV Resort. According to Albion, Bay Oaks and Beach Elementary are also considered sponsors since the event is held at the location.

Other sponsors include Pepsi, who will provide soft drinks; Topps Supermarket (water) and Perkins Restaurant (cookies). The Caloosa Clown Alley will also provide clowns for the event.

Volunteer egg-stuffing will take place at Red Coconut Thursday evening.

More help is needed at 7 a.m. on the day of the hunt for the hiding of the eggs, filling helium balloons, and setting up decorations. Call 454-7500 for more information.

Also on Saturday, prizes will be handed out for the Easter coloring sheets.

Winning entries from the following age groups (age 3 and under; age 4-5; age 6-7; age 8-10; age 11-12) will be announced and prizes will be awarded.

The Chamber would like to thank each contributor for their continued support of this local community activity.

“It’s a fun morning that goes real fast,” said Albion. “It’s something to see even if you don’t have a kid. It’s amazing.”
