La Ola releases renderings of new restaurant
La Ola Surfside Restaurant owner Tom Houghton has released renderings of his proposed new restaurant at Times Square on Fort Myers Beach. Houghton is planning to meet with town officials to discuss his new plans and is expected to enter into mediation proceedings with town staff to attempt to resolve an outstanding code violation for the use of trailers on the property. The trailers have been in use since Hurricane Ian destroyed the original building in 2022. Houghton is also in contract to buy the property. Under the new plans, the existing tower and mural would be replaced with a replica mural and tower on the other side of the property.
