Lakes Regional Park celebrates 25th anniversary

Remarks from the Lee County Board of County Commissioners will kick off the Lakes Regional Park 25th Anniversary Celebration event at Lakes Regional Park, 7300 Gladiolus Drive Saturday, April 18.

The free event – which features a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a major renovation project at the park – begins at 10 a.m. with the BOCC and lasts until 2 p.m. This will mark a celebration of 25 years of park history.

Other festivities include music from B103.9; a bounce house provided by Moonwalk and More; games; and a scavenger hunt which will take participants to all of the main points of Lakes Regional Park.

The hunt -teams are limited to five members – will begin at 10:45 a.m. Participants can sign in the day of the event. The first five teams back will win prizes courtesy of Lakes Regional Park Vendors.

Lakes Regional Park is a 279-acre facility that features 158 acres of freshwater quarry lake. The lake, with depths ranging from a few inches to 20 feet, boasts good fishing for bass, bream and other fresh and saltwater species. The lake also supports an array of wildlife, including the American Alligator. A variety of birds including Ibis, Egrets, Herons, Cormorants and Anhinga inhabit the park.
