Mound House to host sailing camp
Camp runs from June 13-17 on Fort Myers Beach

For the 15th year, The Mound House, in conjunction with Edison Sailing Center will offer a one-week sailing camp. The Fort Myers Beach camp will run from June 13-17 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily.
The cost is $250 per child.
The program is available to children ages 8-11 at the Mound House on 451 Connecticut Street.
Those participating must be able to swim and have clothing that can get wet, along with close-toed shoes with a strap. Each student gets their own Optimist Pram sailboat to use for the week.
Children will learn the fundamentals of sailing and how to perfect their skills on the water. Taught by USSailing certified instructors and junior instructors, students will learn how to rig, launch and sail their boat independently. Throughout the one-week session, students will be introduced to nautical terms, how to tie basic knots, and develop an awareness and appreciation for safety. A highlight of the camp is sailing independently to destinations such as Matanzas Preserve, or other local sandbars.
