After long being a challenging spot to park in, the north lot entrance of Lovers Key State Park on Fort Myers Beach has been flattened out with sand and is a much smoother place for cars. Piles of sand are on standby if needed again. / Photo by Nathan Mayberg

The north lot entrance to Lovers Key State Park, long a tough spot for parking, has recently been leveled off with sand. Gone are the tricky bumps and potholes motorists used to encounter on their way to the beach and trails at the entrance.
