Music and entertainment marathon planned for Labor Day weekend along the bay at Matanzas Inn, On the Bay
Music and entertainment to run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday
A three-day marathon of music and entertainment is in the works this Labor Day weekend at Matanzas Inn, On the Bay, and Petey’s Upper Deck. The businesses will be hosting live music and entertainment as part of a new event being called “Bash on the Bay” by organizers.
The bash will be held Sept. 5-7 on the the three properties situated next to each other on Crescent Street, overlooking Mantanzas Pass.
The headliners announced for the festival include the Southwest Florida-based Ben Allen Band on Sunday, and Jacquie Roar on Saturday.
The festival will start at 10 a.m. each day, running until 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and until 6 p.m. on Monday.
The Town of Fort Myers Beach Council approved a special event permit for the event, which will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday with a live DJ through 1 p.m., according to a schedule submitted to the town. The DJ will be followed by a karaoke contest and other entertainment.
In addition to the music, festival highlights include a vendor and boat show, beer garden, cornhole games, and other activities.
Roar will take the stage at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
The music will begin on Sunday at 10 a.m. with reggae music through 1 p.m., followed by a watermelon eating contest, more live music, a karaoke contest, and a performance starting at 7 p.m. with the Ben Allen Band, a country music group.
On Monday, there will be more music and a key lime pie eating contest before the event ends at 6 p.m.
