Tourney nets $20K for Memory Care Unit
The annual Shell Point Open Golf Tournament, presented by the Legacy Foundation at Shell Point, was held this year to raise funds for the Memory Care Unit located in the Larsen Pavilion, which offers care to individuals with memory needs in the Southwest Florida area.
The tournament was held on Nov. 7 at the Shell Point Golf Club in Fort Myers, and raised approximately $20,000 for the cause, announced Timothy Stephenson, Executive Director of the Legacy Foundation at Shell Point. The funds raised from this tournament will help operate the unit, and purchase cutting edge equipment that will offer many individuals a chance to live a more independent lifestyle.
“Everyone has known a friend or loved one who has been affected in some way or another by memory care issues, such as memory loss or dementia,” Stephenson said. “The Memory Care Unit in the Larsen Pavilion is working at the forefront of healthcare with local community groups, helping it to be one of the leaders in this field. Special attention is given to patients to ensure that they receive the best programs, care and services that allow them the highest level of independence.”
The tournament greeted 115 participants, and many volunteers, who came out to support this event. The event was broadly supported by many businesses in the Fort Myers community and Timothy Stephenson thanked the sponsors, participants and volunteers for their outstanding support of this worthwhile cause. The Scoggins/Moreland Group at Morgan Stanley was featured as the Title Sponsor for the tournament.
David Moreland, of the Scoggins/Moreland Group at Morgan Stanley, told how his grandmother lived at the Larsen Pavilion. “My grandmother could have used the services of the memory care unit,” said Moreland. “We are pleased to be able to contribute so that others may benefit from these essential services. This is something that is very close to our hearts.”
