Activity Details
Nancy Smith gives a quick glimpse into the Shy Wolf Sanctuary and how wildlife can be a part of nature.
The Afternoon Movie features “Who’s Camus Anyway” 115 minutes, Japanese with English subtitles.
Captain Bob will give more insights into the adventure of sailing.
Get a better grasp of what is happening with Hummels both from the past and current activities. Handouts will be provided for those who pre-register.
Need pointers or assistance regarding e-mail or the Internet? Pre-register for the session which also includes a Q & A time.
The Garden Club hosts a special presentation by the Orchid Alliance during their meeting time. Open to guests and new comers.
The Afternoon Movie features “The Rage in Placid Lake” 89 minutes in English.
Alice Mack, whose excitement about lighthouses knows almost no bounds, will be sharing delights that inspire tales and lore.
A visual presentation is an interesting door into what the Old Masters say about the End Times. Dr. Holinski will explore Armageddon/rapture.
Children
Children’s author Julie Ward will be reading to and spending time with the children during Preschool Story Hour on Feb. 5, 10:30 a.m.
Bikers
If you’re coming to the library via the bike, please use the bike rack on the corner of the library near School St. or park in the rack in the parking garage. Do not clutter the front entrance area or damage landscaping or signage. Thanks for your courtesy.
Photography
Those seeking to get more comfortable and knowledgeable about their digital camera, attend the “Learn How to Take Great Pictures with Your Digital Camera” on Feb. 7. This time, with guidance by Jeff Carsten, is most helpful in learning how to set up and operate your camera.
Photo Editing for Beginners takes central stage on Feb 11. Dave Garney will concentrate on selection and brightness. Pre-register.
Drink/Cellphone
A bottle of water in an enclosed bottle is OK in the Library Proper (floor 1 and 2). Please don’t bring anything else in terms of soda or drinks. Spills happen, however careful, and the stain and extra work adds an unwelcome task that is unnecessary and means extra cleaning costs instead of adding to the collection.
Use cellphones in the Library Commons on the third floor. Please silence your cellphone in the library proper on the first and second floors.
Travel
Visiting Australia and New Zealand? Check out the presentation on these countries on Feb. 6. Visiting Galapagos? Participate in the activity on Feb. 14. Want to explore a voyage to the South Seas? Then look into the adventures being shared on Feb 19.
Sailing-two special opportunities. One is exploring Cuba by boat on Feb 12, and another is more adventures and tales by Captain Bob on Feb. 20.
Local History
The in-demand presentation on the history of Fort Myers Beach is scheduled for Feb 25.
Stay Tuned
Watch for an opportunity to participate in a upcoming digital sharing of your reaction to reading a book by many in the community. A library kiosk will enable you to share your story/reaction in six words. The project “Amercia in Six” is expected to start in a few weeks.
Memorials
Remember a loved one or give a gift in memory of by donating $25 minimum to add a title to the collection. A plaque is placed in each memorial gift. Gifts of $50 or $100 enable more titles to be placed into the collection.
Visiting the Library
Visitor cards are available for $10. This enables one to check out items from the library and is good for up to six months.
Hours
A recorder gives the summertime hours we are open if you call in at 765-8162 when we are closed. Open hours are Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 to 5.; and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
