Community Movie Presentation
On Dec. 9, at 3:30 p.m., celebrate with us the resilience of our community in a special movie presentation. This is the culmination of the digital storytelling project over the past few months wherein participants tell their story/reaction to select works as a community. Adult and kid stories will be shown.
Hopefully you’ll be able to take in this showing to both appreciate another really fine aspect of our community and to really learn what digital storytelling is all about.
Host
The Library was host for the Florida Southwest Library Network on Thursday. Close to 100 librarians gathered from the tri-county area to celebrate and continue the work of sharing resources and insights.
We were joined in the gathering by Florida First Lady Ann Scott, who arrived early and enjoyed a tour of the library. What was particularly edifying is that she cared and from the discussion during the tour gave evidence she is aware of how much libraries add to the community. The day also included the presence of Florida Secretary of State, Ken Detzner, who spoke to the group and took time after the event to tour the library. Both officials spoke highly of what they viewed and the accompanying services.
Magazines
There are many print magazines available in the Living Room on the second floor. Current issues are in the blue binder. Please keep these issues in the binder in the Living Room at all times. There are previous issues of each publication under the shelf. These previous issues may be checked out.
To expand the range of magazines, consider also consulting the electronic Magazine Database. Go to our home page at www.fmb.lib.fl.us and click on the tab near the top of the base titled ‘E-Resources.’ The first link under this tab is the magazines database. Follow the links and you’ll be able to search over 400 full-text magazines.
