Activity Details
If you’re a knitter or needle crafter, consider joining the group on Wednesday as they enjoy sharing tips and conversation. If you’re a beginner, you’ll particular cherish this group as they can give you helpful ideas to get started with success.
The Gardening presentation on Aug. 18 is coordinated by Russ Ruther from the Educational Concern for Hunger Organization. They as a group have a vested interest in reducing hunger in our communities. A bonus is that they have practical, tested ideas to share that enable one to have a bounteous Florida garden. The time is worth it just to hear about ECHO’s experiments with plants and crop varieties.
Tuesday, Aug. 23, offers a session discussing a variety of computer related issues. If you have particular computer concerns, include the question when you pre-register for this time and you’ll get a response that covers that issue.
Entrance
Now that the entrance on Bay Road has opened, it’s easy to park. When you enter this temporary entrance let yourself enjoy the discoveries along the way. Near the doors is a place to sit and browse, and also a display on authors with much to be able to enjoy. Near the circulation desk are shelves housing the Classics Collection. This collection is seeing an increase in terms of check-out titles, and that’s welcome as so many timeless titles reside here.
Smokers
Smokers are reminded to please not smoke on the ramp or stairs and not at the base of the stairs. Many do not want to be bothered or experience the effects of smoking so those entering the library should not need to go through smoked filled air. Please smoke outside away from the entrance and more midway between the bottom of the stairs and the materials drop box.
Good manners: please put cigarette butts in the waste receptile bins and not in the landscaping or on the pavers.
Better yet, please consider not smoking. Health experts indicate this is a plus for you and the rest of us. We have materials to assist. Consider “The Easy Way to Stop Smoking” (CD audio, 616.865 CAR) or on the Health Display, look for “Quit Smoking Today” (616.865 MCK) and “Smoking: 201 reasons to quit” (Heath Display 616.865 CRA). Those desiring large print, look for “Smoke-Free in 30 Days” (New LP Nonfiction, 616.865 SEI). And for all, “Stop Smoking Naturally” (616.85 ASH).
Bikers
We welcome your arrival by bike. Please use the bike racks, rather than in the landscaping locked to a sign post or on the fire pipes. The racks are easy to use and right by the stairs.
The Biking Coalition puts it well: cyclists-give and get respect. Use bike racks and avoid parking where damage to utility pipes, signs and landscaping can occur.
Library Hours
Don’t remember library hours? When we are closed, a recorder gives the hours on 765-8162 or on 765-8163. Except for holidays, we are open Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9 to 5; and Saturday 9-1. We look forward to seeing you.
