Temporary parking to begin at Beach Library

Upcoming Activities

Preschool Story Hour is scheduled for Wednesday, June 8, at 10:30 a.m.

Activity Details

We have fewer activities scheduled because of changing construction needs. More displays of titles will be highlighted to enable summer browsing to locate those important titles missed or not noticed.

Construction

Temporary parking will start this week. You’ll notice that the entrance is from School St. and that places are marked with bumper stops in place. The asphalt around the current library is being removed to make preparation for the underground storm vaults that will be installed. It’s exciting to note this progress. It may take a minute longer to enter the library but let yourself dream of the expansion and the increased services we can look forward to.

Landscaping on Bay Road was also removed to make room for the vaults and to also accommodate the new parking flow when the expansion and renovation is completed, as we’ll have a two-way lane for traffic.

Waiting for Review

Three titles on display at the front counter can contribute to making reading a true plus in your week and offer an approach that may offer the approach or method that you need. Consider reviewing them.

“The Anger Solution” (152.47 LEE) offers solutions that enable one to uncover the source of rage and how to eliminate it. John Lee discusses boundaries, limits, assertiveness and passivity and shows how these contribute to rage.

“Retail superstars” (381.11 WHA) is a fun book devoid of dry prose or statistics. The stories shared here are unique and interesting and highlight the special ways these business people make their businesses thriving.

“Can Stress Heal?” (155.904 COO) enables the reader to recognize the symptoms of stress and how to reduce them. Best-selling author Kenneth Cooper articulates paradoxes that all of us have in our lives and how embracing these actually contribute to reducing stress.

While looking at one or more of these titles, take five minutes to look at other titles on the display. Though covering a wide range of topics and interests, they are worthwhile to take home.

Construction Fund

As you might imagine, we encounter a variety of surprises in our construction project. Though we have spent years in planning and in doing very careful work, there are still those unexpected curves that seem to be part of any building activity. I feel encouraged with the quality of what is happening, and though permits seem to occupy more time than really seems necessary, that is moving along too.

Please consider a donation to the Library Construction Fund. Our project does not have extra funds floating around and with extra expenses, it enables us to keep the quality as high as it should be. Thanks for your consideration and participating in our Fund.

Library Hours

When we are closed, a recorder gives the hours of operation, either on 765-8162 or on 765-8163. Except for holidays, we are open Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9 to 5; and Saturday 9-1. We look forward to seeing you.
