Construction

We are seeking a Construction Manager at Risk to assure that our project is completed in a timely manner and done within budget. This past Friday prospective managers or related firms met with our architects to get a better grasp of what we are seeking.

Jack London

You may likely associate Jack London with “Call of the Wild” (in CL LON, or on audio in CAL, or even for children at J LON). As an American author and journalist, he was a pioneer in sharing his work through magazine articles. This contributed to his becoming a worldwide celebrity.

If you haven’t read his novel “The Iron Heel: or his non-fiction in “The People of the Abyss” consider them. They are both in the same volume “Jack London: novels and social writings” (CL 818.52 LON).

Third Place

The library functions as a “third place” (in addition to home and work) and has never been more important to our continued health and relevance. We are focusing our energies on designing the expanded library to make the shared spaces as responsive to today’s needs as possible. We will have reflection areas that compliment both the technology that may be used from time to time and also provide traditional quiet areas so vital for many in using the library. We’ll also have more classes and activities that enable broader sharing. While people are increasingly using the Internet in the privacy of their home for activities that were previously done in public spaces, that changes in part how the space is available. We used to go to the library to pick up books; now we go for that but also to check out music options, and bring children to story hour or participate in a seminar.

Library Hours

Don’t remember library hours? Call for information. When we are closed, a recorder gives the hours of operation, either on 765-8162 or on 765-8163. Except for holidays, we are open Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9-5 and Saturday 9-1. We look forward to seeing you.
