Upcoming Session
Jewelry Making class, on Wednesday, Sept. 8, starts at 1:30 p.m. and goes to 3:00 p.m. Added time is given so that participants have a chance to actually complete one custom piece of jewelry. Talk with Marguerite at the front desk for details. Pre-register and $10 materials fee.
Artist of the Month
Have you enjoyed the variety of paintings in the Conference Room this month? Ed Scott, a novice painter, really conveys what can be done when one takes the time to listen to personal talent and moves ahead with it on a regular basis. He uses wax pencils on some of the displayed works and it adds a special dimension.
Hibel
Enjoy for one more week the work of Edna Hibel, on display in the Senior Zone display case. Edna has been painting for the past seven decades, and on January 13 of this year celebrated her 93rd birthday.
Showcased are porcelain plates that highlight many of Edna’s themes through the decades. Values and moralities pervade her art. She is an advocate of civil society which can only be realized by a citizenry that is responsible and recognizes its connections to one another. She would go so far as to say that it is only by caring and acting with empathy and respect for the dignity of others will we achieve any true peace.
Library Construction Fund
Please remember to include your gift in the donation box near the model of the library expansion. We appreciate your participation in this investment. If you have a jar gathering spare coins or an envelope with extra coins, consider bringing this and dropping them in the donation box or leave the envelope/jar at the front desk. Every dollar makes a difference.
Construction Documents
We are in the last phase of preparing the Construction Documents. I anticipate that by the end of October, the blueprints will be drawn and we are close to breaking ground. We are not rushing as we want to be sure that no further changes will be needed.
Library Hours
Don’t remember library hours? When we are closed, a recorder gives the hours of operation, either on 765-8162 or on 765-8163. Except for holidays, we are open Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We look forward to seeing you.
