Artist of the Month

Don Musto, our artist in April, has fun with brush strokes and color and offers a wide array of abstract paintings. He does not have a specific message to share but wants both artist and viewer experience to converge. One can find much to linger in though as his creating an abstract painting involves not only a paint brush and paints but an emotion that comes from within the artist, though Don doesn’t feel the need to articulate it.

You’ll find Don’s paintings on display in the Conference Room and in the display case at the top of the stairs on the second floor. It’s easy to see he is a lover of vibrant colors and bold lines. Clearly, for Don, the joy is in the process.

Look also in the assortment of colors how they are organized on the canvas. In over half of the paintings one sees a rich exciting mix and intermingling of colors, yet in the background are gestural strokes and shapes of blues and white and dark shades. One wonders how many of the paintings are about gesture and movement.

Challinor

Mystery lovers looking for a new author, consider C. S. Challinor. Born in Indiana, educated in England, she now resides in Southwest Florida with her writing featuring an exotic setting and diverse characters from around the world. We have her “Christmas Is Murder,” published in 2008, and her “Murder In the Raw” (2009) both in M CHA. We have ordered her new title for 2010 “Phi Beta Murder” and the 2011 title “Murder on the Moor” is in manuscript review. Concentrate on the first two titles for the next month.

Library Hours

Don’t remember library hours? When we are closed, a recorder gives the hours of operation, either on 765-8162 or on 765-8163. Except for holidays, which would be mentioned on the recorder, we are open Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We look forward to seeing you.
