Weekly Activities

Preschool Story Hour starts at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17.

Jewelry-Making class on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

Knitting group meets Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

On Thursday, March 18, Ukrainian egg demo at 10:30 a.m.

Also on Thursday but at 1:30 p.m., dealing with digital photos and how to fully utilize them and keep them organized.

The literacy program Dog Day meets Thursday between 4 and 5 p.m. If you have children who need reinforcement in reading skills, consider this a must time. Pre-registration is necessary.

The Florida life of Edison will be featured on Friday, March 19 at 10:30 a.m.

What’s for Dinner? A Premier on natural foods will be the focus also on Friday but at 1:30 p.m. Nancy Schwalm, natural foods educator, will offer ideas on what a healthy diet looks like.

On Tuesday, March 23 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. the writing class facilitated by Corinne Thwing will meet.

Upcoming Activities

If you’d like to understand the features of the Microsoft Excel program, pre-register for the 45 minute demo on Wednesday March 24, at 1:30 p.m.

On Thursday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. word processing will be handled for better illustration. Pre-register.

Make your own unique hand-woven basket under the guidance of Kyle McKinnon. Pre-registration and $10 materials fee are needed. Time for this class on Thursday March 25 is from 1 to 4 p.m. as more time is needed for creating the baskets.

Friday, March 26 has Bev Faber-Jenkins aiding participants in identifying risk factors and how to develop a plan to prevent diabetes. This approach to improve health is essential as many can prevent developing diabetes.

The last time the Ukrainian egg writing demo will be scheduled is Tuesday, March 30, at 10:30 a.m.

Special Family Time

“It’s folk rock for the kid in all of us,” says Chip Withrow, acoustic performer who brings his high-spirited, interactive performing style back to the Beach Library for a performance in the Conference Room on Wednesday, April 7, at 10:30 a.m.

This time is specially arranged for children and families.

Alice from Wonderland

Before “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” originally published in 1865, most children’s books were boring, humorless, and intended to punish or instruct. This magical adventure story written by a mathematician who wrote under the pen name of Lewis Carroll made it fun to read. Carroll was in life Charles Dodgson, a shy, quiet professor who loved puzzles and spoke with a stammer.

Besides enjoying “Alice from Wonderland” (J CAR or CL CAR), consider also “Alice Adventure: Lewis Carroll in Popular Culture (823.8 BRO).
