Miserable bumps after a shave or wax
Dear Krissy,
Every time I shave or wax, I get bumps. Is there something I could be using to make the bumps go away?
Michelle, Cape Coral
Dear Michelle,
Yes, there’s a whole new type of product on the market now to address this problem. I personally think the best type of product to look for is an exfoliating product made especially for this problem. It will help to remove dead skin cells so the hair follicles will be able to come all the way through the skin and not leave a bump. Depending on the product you choose, it will also help to moisturize, relieve clogged pores, minimize bumps and ingrown hairs.
Changing temperatures
Hot or cold, no matter who you talk to about using hot or cold on pain, everybody has a different opinion. What is your yours?
Mark, Fort Myers Beach
Dear Mark,
Well, I say both. Alternating hot and cold is always good, and I believe in moist heat (shower, hot bath, jacuzzi or moist hot compress), not dry heat. But the biggest thing to remember is whether you’re using hot or cold, only use it for 15 minutes at a time or you could do more harm than good.
Chin-ups or chin-downs
I’ve seen this new gadget on TV and wonder if it actually works. You put it under your chin and then do an exercise with this gadget that will help tighten and lift sagging skin in the chin and neck area. Do you think this will work?
Eileen, Fort Myers
Dear Eileen,
I think it’s worth a try! I once was taught that if you want to keep the skin in your chin and neck area looking firm and tight, the best way is by chewing gum. I don’t mean normal chewing though. I mean chomping on a big piece of bubble gum. I was told this is a trick used by models and that it works well, so I would think this neck exercising gadget would work just as well and maybe even more targeted. Chomp, chomp!
