Storm drains not needed along Lagoon Road

1 min read

To the editor:

Recently a group from Lagoon Road signed a petition not to destroy our neighborhood in order to install storm drains. We also attended a meeting at Town Hall on Monday, Oct. 7.

Most of us have lived here quite awhile, I have been here 22 years. I’ve experienced many storms and hurricanes and never saw or experienced any flooding on Lagoon Road.

They will be tearing up the roads, destroying beautiful trees, lawns, flowers and sprinkler systems. All of this is a complete waste of taxpayers’ money and hardship for no reason when flooding is not a problem here.

We all listened while the professionals spoke. One mentioned there was an alternative way to do it. The Mayor said she didn’t want to change anything, and in so many words said that the rest of the town is suffering so should we!

We all thought we would get to voice our opinions and concerns, but was told by the Mayor we wouldn’t be allowed! Seemed unfair and we all left in disgust!!
