No correlation between mental illness, gun violence
To the editor:
Once again, really, mental illness is not causing gun violence.
There isn’t even any by-chance correlation.
It doesn’t matter how much our politicians believe or use this as an excuse for doing nothing. If they really think mental illness is causing gun violence then perhaps they should require psychiatric examination of all gun owners and purchasers. That sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it?
I wonder why mental illness was not offered as a defense in the case of a Florida man found guilty of manslaughter in parking lot shooting that led to a “Stand Your Ground” trial.
I am not suggesting that he has a mental illness.
