Many thanks to those who continue to support Conservation 20/20
To the editor:
Our county’s land conservation program, known as 20/20, received a referendum vote of support of 84% of all county voters last year, clearly demonstrating the citizens’ concern for this critically important program.
I was so very pleased to see The Breeze Newspaper’s editorial recognition and backing of Conservation 20/20’s effectiveness recently.
In the last decade (duplicating previous decades) Lee County has grown in population by approximately 100,000 people. All indications are that similar growth patterns can be expected for the foreseeable future. If we are to avoid becoming a wall-to-wall concrete metropolis like some other parts of Florida, it will be because of the existence of this valuable program adopted by the county many years ago.
My thanks are to the Lee County citizens for their continued strong support of 20/20, and my additional sincere thanks are to The Breeze Newspapers for your special recognition of the good work being accomplished by this vitally important program.
