That’s how politics works
To the editor:
I am writing in regards to an article published in The Observer week of August 14. Basically Ms. Collins was upset at not being appointed to the vacant District 3 county commissioner seat. It seems there was an error in communication from the Governor’s Chief of Staff and she was left with the impression that the seat was hers. That is wrong and sad. However the article then goes on to portray the loss of the appointment to being a woman who supports Planned Parenthood because they saved her life in 1990 by finding an ovarian tumor during an exam.
While it is true that Planned Parenthood does provide regular gynecological care for women, their main focus is abortion. Women in 1990 could get gynecological care at health departments if they could not afford a physician. It is wonderful that they saved her life but how many of the over 56 million aborted babies killed by Planned Parenthood could have been saved if they did not abort babies?
Please stop linking abortion to women’s rights. As a conservative woman I am offended that they think we don’t see through this. Go see the movie Unplanned to fully understand what is happening. Don’t criticize me for not having walked in the pregnant women’s shoes because I have been there. In 1975 after going to planned parenthood for a pregnancy test (no OTC tests back then), they tried to talk me into an abortion. No other options were offered. It was intense pressure. Fortunately I understood the sanctity of life and my ” mistake” resulted in a wonderful life and family.
Sorry that the Chief of Staff used poor communication skills. Don’t blame your loss of the position to being a woman. Blame it on your beliefs that may be different from the current administration. That’s how politics works.
