To the editor:

Many and great thanks to our island and off island friends for the outpouring of support for The Friends of the Mound House Artful Intersection event on March 22. The second annual strolling supper, pop-up store, and auction was a grand success! The proceeds will be used to support Mound House programming including the monthly lecture series held in season AND scholarships for beach kids to attend the Mound House Summer camps.

Enthusiastic guests enjoyed competitive bidding for an array of art and experience visits with notable islanders. During the event, The Friends launched an endowment fund to help the town ensure and sustain the financial health of Mound House programs and operations for generations to come.

This successful fundraiser for the Mound House took an island to make it happen: Committed event committee members and generous attendees.

Thanks everybody!

I was both thrilled and humbled last Tuesday to be elected to our Fort Myers Beach Town Council and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

The voters on the Beach sent a loud and clear message – they expect and deserve more from their elected representatives and they will not tolerate irresponsible, unethical or dishonest behavior.

My promise to you all, both those who voted for me and those who did not, is that you will be able to hold me to the highest standards expected of a Town Council Member while conducting your business. It is a tremendous honor indeed for me to have the opportunity to serve my Town again on the Council after all these years since my prior service. I am anxious to join my colleagues on Monday and getting on with conducting the business of the Town. I foresee great things for The Town of Fort Myers Beach in the near future and, working together. our accomplishments can be great and many.

Thank you again for this chance to serve and my very best to each and every one of you.

Ray Murphy
