Dolphin deaths is heartbreaking

1 min read

To the editor:

I swam with the dolphins several years ago and it was a wonderful experience. My picture with my dolphin pal is prominently displayed in my living room as a remembrance of that special day.

Now, I’m seeing pictures of dead dolphins washing up on our beaches and it’s heart-rending to realize what is happening. Red tide did not just disappear as some would like to wish it away. A scuba diver on TV showed the utter devastation of the reefs and other creatures. I, too, was a scuba diver and remember the beauty of the under water environment that’s also damaged.

I also lived on Fort Myers Beach for over 20 years and had many a wonderful beach walk collecting empty shells and seeing turtle tracks, that are also dying.

Recently the person responsible for this devastation, the governor, was elected to the Senate where he can do more damage to the reason that people come to Florida.

Not with my vote and I’m proud of it.
