The little parking space that keeps on giving
The little parking space that keeps on giving
To the Editor:??On March 26, 2018, I took the long, bumper to bumper, drive to Fort Myers Beach, to buy some pirate things for my grandson. I drove around looking for a parking space, when what to my wondering eyes should appear: an end parking space, near the corner of Center Street, just down from the store.
As I exited my car, I noticed the sign indicating where I should pay for the private parking. At 12:46 p.m., I paid, inserted the ticket on my dashboard, and went to the store.
What a wonderful coincidence, at 12:52 p.m., officer 8888 came by and issued me a ticket… a $35 ticket for paying at the wrong pay station. Those were very expensive eye patches and flintlock squirt guns.
I suspect this happens often. As you can see from the enclosed photos, the sign placement is very misleading. The response is either to pay the ticket, or skip it, if you’re from out of state.
It’s the little annoyances (or injustices) that galvanize one to react.
I’m still mad about it.
