Estero Boulevard and the Beach
Estero Boulevard and the Beach
To the Editor:
Estero Boulevard
The town does not have a need for any traffic lights since the Estero Boulevard will be the same for many, many decades to come. People are crossing Estero Boulevard every which way, stopping traffic. From Crescent Street, going south, what is needed is blinking crossovers for people only. There are more people crossing at the crossovers at Times Square area south than at the lower part of the island. What is needed is blinking crossivers on time control. So long for people crossing over Estero Boulevard and longer for traffic. Since there are going to be two lanes, north and south, forever.
The Beach
We need a full time beach patrol. The town manager says no. Campfires, dogs on the beach, nuisance and not sanitary. That’s why there is a dog beach at Lovers Key. Dogs are great pets and companions but not on Fort Myers Beach. We need restrooms down to Access 25. It is overlooked and ignored by the Mayor and Town Council. Also the new ordinance, plastic straws. People using properties for restrooms, beer bottles and dogs not on leash. The beach area is rated No. 14 in the U.S. by TripAdvisor, but it is still not in the Top 25 worldwide. Mayor and Council, take care of these two issues and it could be better than No. 14.
