No longer proud of my country
To the Editor:
I’ve always been proud of my country until now. I’ve lived through WaterGate and Nixon, the financial crisis and Bush.
But nothing like this. The right wing religious people put a man in the White House that has broken most of the Ten Commandments.
How ironic that a vacancy was left on the Supreme Court for 14 months due to a disagreement over abortion as a religious belief while a man who destroyed people’s lives through his ruthless business dealings was elected. It’s wrong to leave an important position vacant for so long on religious grounds. What ever happened to separation of church and state?
What ever happened to the truth? Does it no longer exist as Time Magazine has asked on its cover? A president stood up and told the America people and Congress that he would bring back America jobs when he outsources jobs to 17 countries causing huge losses of jobs at home. It grates on me every time I hear him say it.
He’s committed adultery numerous times while married to his three wives. Doesn’t that commandment count anymore? What about his rude, disrespectful treatment of women?
I watch him salute the military people guarding him and remember his military school days when he tried to push his roommate out of a second story window but two boys stopped him, according to the Washington Post writers in the book, “Trump Revealed.”
His demeanor alone is offensive with his arrogance, smirking and smugness that makes my skin crawl every time I have to look at that countenance. He’s been compared to P.T. Barnum and the Broadway show that features the song, “there’s a sucker born every minute.” It’s a display of what he thinks about us people.
At Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., I used to go to the flight line to pick up patients from air crafts. I have pictures of Air Force One on the flight line. I’m glad I;m not there now because I could never salute him. I’ve always been proud of my country until now. Now, I’m ashamed that this man represents this country to the world.
