Always been proud of my country
Always been proud of my country
To the Editor:
Unlike the writer last week, I have always been proud of my country. I too have lived thru issues such as “travelgate”; the lies of our politicians such as, “if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor, if you like your healthcare you can keep your healthcare”; ” I have drawn a red line in the sand”; “I was under sniper fire while landing in Bosnia”; ” we were dead broke when we left the White House”; “I did not have sexual relations with that woman Monica Lewinski”; and also unlike Michele Obama, who only become proud of her country after her husband had won a few primary elections, these are just a few issues that immediately come to mind. The writer was proud of her country when those things were going on, and so was I. But I have always been proud of my country. It’s some individuals in the country I have no respect for and don’t like.
There is no better country in the world in my opinion. If there were I would try my best to move there. Some Hollywood stars promised to move if Trump were elected President, but unfortunately, none have. Look back into our history. We have not been perfect, but we as a country have sacrificed a lot and done a lot of good in the world. Something to be proud of. Ask the countries in Europe.
While in the military as a Marine I would have saluted ANY Commander-in-Chief regardless of whom they were and my personal opinion of them. Any true military person would.
In any case, the election is over. One side lost. Get over it. And, at this point, what difference does it make?
