Vote for Fleming
To the Editor:
I met Ron Fleming over 40 years ago as college roommates. Upon graduation, Ron chose public service as his career. If you have read his web site, you can see that he has served at every level in every capacity from field operations to finance.
I am a career army officer and have led people in extremely intense and deadly encounters on numerous occasions as a platoon, battalion and base commander. Afterwards, I served as a faculty member of the United States Military Academy at West Point. This entailed identifying those leaders who could make calm, split second, life and death decisions with a minimal amount of information and time. Ron has proven to be an outstanding leader many times over when under immense pressure. Ron measures up.
I attended a dinner four years ago in honor of Ron given by his fellow firefighters. It was very obvious how much respect and admiration they all had for him. I spoke and listened as they described Ron. Without exception I could tell they deeply respected and would have done anything for him. Ron is honest and hard working. He will place the community and the firefighters he serves above all. I strongly urge that you give Ron your vote for fire commissioner.
