Delmar park not worth the wait
To the editor:
We have patiently waited for over four years for a small park at the bay end of Delmar Avenue to view the bay and the boat traffic. It’s a long story with pages of e-mails to all the Town Council members. They did complete the park last month, but it would take a visit by you to fully understand and see what we received.
Funds were allocated for this park and a permit to clear some mangroaves was obtained by the Town from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, but again take a trip and visit the park. You should see the pictures of the proposed park on the Towns’s website. What we received is truly a joke. A true waste of time and money.
We donated a bench, but to sit on it you must climb over and then all you see is the railing of the 5′ by 8′ deck. The sand put there is washing away, and the drains may be hazardous to children. All Council members and Town Manager Don Stilwell received many emails for the four years. I realize this may not be important to you, but it is to me. All we ask for originally was two benches, a deck and a place to launch kayaks with an unobstructed view of the bay.
