Construction and Emergency Response Delays
To the editor:
The Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District (FMBFCD) fully supports the Town’s and Lee County’s decision to upgrade critical infrastructure. This decision will help to greatly enhance our community’s resiliency to all risks both natural and man-made. As a result of these efforts, we have experienced some emergency response delays. The FMBFCD has been, and will continue, to work cooperatively with all stake-holders both internal and external to address emergency response concerns which will ensure our ability to meet our Community’s needs in a safe, efficient, and timely matter.
All residents and visitors are encouraged to allow extra travel time when traveling the island. All residents and visitors are asked to please help the FMBFCD ensure safe, efficient, and timely emergency response by staying vigilant for approaching emergency service vehicles, following direction of construction zone flaggers and spotters, and yielding the right of way to approaching emergency service vehicles when safe and appropriate.
