Shrimp Festival seeks princesses
To the editor:
March 14 and 15 is the Fort Myers Beach Lion’s Club 57th Annual Shrimp Festival. This is the biggest event of the year on Fort Myers Beach. The parade, the Shrimp Queen Pageant, all the vendors, and most of all … the shrimp! Big … Pink … Fresh … Local … Gulf Shrimp! How lucky are we to live on such a beautiful island, with such a fabulous community, and have fresh shrimp unloaded right at our docks?!
Every year there is a Grand Parade, and one of the most famous parts of the parade are our Princesses riding atop sporty Corvettes, competing to be crowned this year’s Shrimp Festival Queen. There are a variety of awards, and prizes for entering the Shrimp Queen Pageant, and the Princess crowned 2015 Beach Lion’s Club Shrimp Festival Queen also receives a $500 College Scholarship!
This event is a lot of fun. If you are a single girl between the ages of 16-20 and are interested in entering this year’s pageant, please sign up soon as entry is limited. Princesses meet new friends, receive community service hours, receive special gifts and compete for a variety of awards and more.
The reigning Shrimp Festival Queen -Miss Moss Marine- Jordan Ward can be seen around the island as she helps kick off this year’s annual Festival – as well as leading the 2015 Princesses in this year’s parade.
