Happy holidays from the Beach

2 min read

To the editor:

Dear Fort Myers Beach:?You are one extraordinary community. I’ve observed, participated and lived within this island’s life for more than 26 years now with its extreme generosity, love for each other and community spirit.

There is no better time to say thank you to you all who live and work on FMB then right now during the holidays. Many of us do not have immediate family members here locally to celebrate these holidays with. But the beach has its own brand of family; close friends who work together as family, the beach school and all its greatness as family, the outreach programs at local churches as family, the volunteers through the group called “Beach Kids” as family, as the list goes on and on.

I would like to personally thank and applaud the family members of Fort Myers Beach for not only making the holidays special for those people who do not have immediate family here, but for also those who do have immediate family here. We, as a coastal community, are indeed a family. I want all of you to know of how over the years you have personally touched my heart. No matter if its for standing up for our water quality together, or if it’s raising money and support through localized benefits together, or delivering Christmas presents to our local children together, or every other act of random kindness set through by this town as displayed together, that I’ve personally had the honor to witness first hand.

You are totally amazing people, and that should never go unrecognized. Let us all as FMB, to wish island wide, a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of Fort Myers Beach and truly what it’s all about – a coastal community family.
