To the editor:

The 2014 Friends of Matanzas Pass Preserve Annual Wine Dinner 2014 was the best dinner ever!

In spite to the cool temps, which were reminiscent of the first event in 2009, the evening was a resounding success. The dinner was sold out months in advance. Thank you to each and every one of the participants for your support of the preserve and for the children’s education center fund.

Many thanks to our very generous sponsors: Lahaina Realty, Red Coconut R.V Park, South Beach Grille, Caloosehatche Tax and Financial Services, FishTale Marina, Mango Street Inn, Chapel by the Sea, Sanibel Seafood, Chuck Bodenhafer, Bret and Melanie Truitt and renowned artist Jon Ferrenttino for donating the beautiful painting “The Grouper” for our raffle.

Ira Wilkes, the musician extraordinaire performing at Flippers Restaurant on Lover’s Key, blessed us with his soulful music.

Thank you to the following volunteers for their tireless help in making this year’s dinner a success; Laurie Nienhaus, Carla and Peter Pine (donators of the colorful and fun napkin holders), Julie Schwab, Vickie Little, Gordon and Linda Curran, Kim Sptizer, Ray and Lee Maher, Cheri Waters, Pat Strittholt (creator of the amazing raspberry mousse dessert), Chris and Mike Parish, Tim Murphy, Chuck Schmidt, Roger Johnson, Mary Rudasill, Lynn Terella, Summer Stockton, Jim and Dorothy Rodwell.

Also, thank you to Pete and Tyler from Total Wine and Cindy from Sanibel Seafood. These folks really went above and beyond the call of duty to assist the “friends” this year. Cheers!
