Level the playing field

2 min read

To the editor:

Town staff is back at it again, trying to “level the playing field.”

I’m sure we all recall this catch phrase being used very effectively in marching the beaches favorite recreational activity “alcohol” past the EC line. What you may not realize is town staff has made it nearly impossible for any other properties in the same neighborhood to have the same rights. Now they are using “level the playing field” for a minority of personal watercraft operators to use paddle boards, kayaks, etc. on the same property that these same bars are located on.

Town staff has “landlocked” all of these properties around these two bars for the last five years. These “landlocked” property owners are wondering why -all of this leveling seems to point to one private business and one town staff.

To put the icing on the cake, town staff will be using this new personal watercraft ordinance to place a 500-foot protective bubble around these operators, making sure these “landlocked” properties and the businesses on them are unable to do business with any personal watercraft or Parasail operator they choose. Does this sound un-American? Does this sound like free enterprise at work? It might if the “leveling of the playing field” affected a majority and not the minority’ and the town staff protection was removed.

If you believe your property or business needs a little “leveling” or you would like to have this type of government protection, please text your request to -level the playing field fmb@gmail.com and I will forward your request, along with my request to town staff.

For the majority not the minority, and for free-trade.
